Memo for Garden Creek Parents and Guardians
Good
morning Creeker Families – welcome to week 2 of learning in our “new year” !
Orange
Protocols – we
continue to be in the “orange phase” this week throughout the province.
Students will continue to wear masks throughout the day other than when they
are eating, working quietly ( and spaced out in the classroom) or in Phys
Ed. Students are adapting so well to remembering to wear their masks and
they are troopers around this! Way to go, Creekers! Please send 2
masks and 2 water bottles with your child every day.
Arrival
to School 8:15 AM
– 8:15 is our entry time and duty teachers and Admin need to head indoors
to begin the day at that time. For those parents who are
having difficulty getting here by then, please try to speed things up by
5 minutes; it will benefit your child’s start to the day and will avoid
disruption of office routines.
Social
Emotional Learning – The Power of YET – this week, as part of social
emotional learning around self-awareness, we are working throughout the school
on the ‘power of yet” - students are encouraged to remember that although
they may not be able to do something now to think and say “ I can’t do it..
YET” . This is a way to reframe negative self-talk and replace it with a more
optimistic, growth perspective.
District
STEAM online – every
year, students are able to participate in the District STEAM Fair. Teachers can
either run this in their classrooms or parents can have their children
participate individually. We will be receiving more info on this from our
District in the weeks to come, but just wanted to put it out there for your
consideration.
