Dear Families,
Thank you for your support with the Math-a-thon!! The money raised is going towards our track on the soccer field. Howlfest is taking place next Saturday, 0ct. 29th from 4-6:00 pm. If you would like to donate assorted candy for this event please send your donations to school by Wed., Oct 26th. It is a lot of fun and a wonderful fundraiser for our school. I hope to see you there!
A note about Halloween day at school- we will be having a few fun Halloween activities and treats but no costumes please!
I am sending home a math game called Add Two More. Your child should know how to play.This game is a great way for your child to practice quick math facts. If this becomes too easy add 10 to each number (on the dice and the game sheet). Have fun and play as often as you like.
In writing, our focus has been planning stories before we write. Students take turns retelling a story with a partner. Coming up with a story topic is still a little difficult for some. They are encouraged to tell a story that has a clear beginning, middle and end. Talking about their story sequence prior to writing is very helpful. As students continue to develop as writers we are always revising, rereading and fixing up. The students enjoy writing and I love seeing the progress they are making! We are excited to have Sheree Fitch come in on Friday to write with us! Don’t forget to practice reading for 10-15 min. each night. Please keep in touch with any concerns or questions.
