Dear Families,
This week is a short one for students. No school this Thursday and Friday because teachers have Professional Development days.
We have been busy writing, revising and editing our writing. We call this “Fixing up and Fancying up” our writing. We check our writing to make sure people can read it. The writing goals we are working on are to use a capital letter at the beginning of a sentence, proper punctuation and to spell most of our sight words correct. We continue to ask ourselves; does it make sense? What details can I add? The students enjoy sharing their writing with each other; we celebrate their writing achievement’s every day!
I hope reading at home is going well. I am pleased with the progress I am seeing at school. I will be sending home helpful hints to use at home; these Café reading strategies are the same ones we will be reviewing throughout the year. Building strategies for comprehension will be a key focus in helping students understand, reflect and think about what they are reading.
We are having a school Math-a-Thon! We are raising money for a track and long jump pits for the soccer field. Information/sponsor sheets are coming home today. I have also attached a math facts practice sheet. We appreciate your continued support!
Please keep in touch with any concerns or questions.
Sincerely,
Liz Glenwright
Don’t forget to practice your math facts!!!
Happy Thanksgiving!!
