Welcome to Grade 3 Linder

Our Expectations

· Children will use self-control.
· Children will act in a responsible and respectful manner.
· Children will complete classwork and homework to the best of their ability.
· School will be a fun place to learn if we all work together.
Welcome to Mr. Linder’s Grade 3-GNMES
Language Arts will focus on improving each child’s individual achievement using a  literature based program that will include  reading comprehension, a reader’s notebook to respond to literature, and a writer’s  notebook for creative and journal writing.   We will also be using ”Words Their Way” to provide them with strategies to improve their spelling.
Math will focus on improving each child’s individual    achievement using the math curriculum plus a variety of resources, hands-on activities, group work, demonstrations,  discussions and practice.  All children need continued, regular practice on their math facts (addition and subtraction for now).
Throughout the year, we will be using flexible math groups.  A pre-assessment will be given to students and they will then be placed into groups according to their strengths and weaknesses. Depending on individual needs, students may or may not be with their homeroom teacher for math. As the unit unfolds, we will continue to  assess student learning and may move students into another group as needed.
