Dear Families:
 
We are in for a spectacular “Seuss”tastic Coyote Carnival Olympic Week!!!  (Try saying that 5 times quickly!!!)
 
Please continue to be diligent in checking your child’s hair each night so that we can be preventative.   
 
What we are learning:
Literacy - This week we will review all List 4 words and phrases and all of the sounds and strategies we have worked on this year in grade one!  We will send a copy of the sounds home for you to refer to when reading with your child.
Math – We will introduce the wonderful world of subtraction this week as well as continuing to work on all addition strategies, counting back from 20, counting by 2s to 20 and counting by 5s and 10s to 50.   A great game to play with a deck of cards is our “Friends of 10” game – ask your child to show you! 
You and Your World – Dr. Seuss’ birthday – March 2nd.
 
Information Items/Dates to Remember:
­Coyote Carnival Information:
Monday – Sport day/hat day – students are invited wear their favourite jersey and/or hat in school.
Tuesday – Mascot/Stuffie day
Wednesday – Crazy hair day
Thursday – Dr. Seuss’ Birthday – Students may wear pajamas today to enjoy a good story with guest reader!
Friday – School color/school spirit day
 
Stay tuned each morning for Olympic Bingo!
 
Homework
·         List 4 words and phrases. – “I can read 100 words!” with Dr. Seuss.
·         We have noticed such great reading progress for those students who read their good fit books each night!  Great job, grade one – keep up the great effort!
·         Return library books Tuesday!
 
Have a wonderful March Break!  Don’t forget to move your clock ahead before you come back to school on March 13th!
