News November 7th

Dear families,                                                                     November, 2016

I am pleased to be hearing more French in the classroom. Please encourage your child to use the French they know when they are speaking with their classmates.

Here is a website where you can practice vocabulary games in French: http://www.digitaldialects.com/French.htm

In French literacy we have begun our second theme. Beginning with the street where we live we will learn the vocabulary to describe our community. Please continue to read the French poems. Mastering the sounds in French is necessary for reading in French. Later this month your child will bring a small French book home to read to you 4 evenings each week (Mon.-Thurs.) Keep your eyes open for a reading folder where you will sign when your child reads to you.

Continue to practice identifying the numbers in French. I have seen lots of progress with most students. We are working on place value and addition of double digit numbers in math.

It is important to read in English each day. Please make the time to listen to your child read to you and\or ask them about the book they are reading.

Other news: The We Act kids are selling poppies that say "We Remember" until November 10th.  They are one dollar each.  All the proceeds will go to our local Legion.  Thank you for supporting our veterans.

The Book Fair is coming in November   Volunteers are needed to make this possible!
