Post-holiday Safety Reminders

January 03, 2020

Dear ASD-S Families,

We hope you and your family have had a safe and enjoyable holiday break. As we prepare for our return to school on Monday, we’d like to offer families a few safety reminders.

Firstly, for those students who have travelled across the Canada/US border for the purpose of custody agreements, we remind you that they are still subject to the current Emergency Order, which requires cross-border travellers to self-isolate for 14 days upon entering Canada. Those students may not return to school until the 14 days of self-isolation are complete. If your child is self-isolating prior to returning to school, we ask that you notify their principal.

Secondly, where it is anticipated that holiday festivities could mark an increase in COVID-19 cases in the province, we would like to remind families of the provincial government’s ‘mask-up’ campaign, which asks students and staff to consider voluntarily wearing their mask throughout the school day as an added layer of protection over the next two weeks. The original letter we shared from Minister Cardy regarding the campaign can be found here.

And finally, it is important that we continue to remind our families and students of the importance of frequent handwashing; physical distancing; cough and sneeze etiquette; and monitoring for symptoms. We cannot become complacent - now more than ever we must be mindful of the safety guidelines provided by the province and each do our part to stop the spread of COVID-19.

To all of our students and their families, we are excited to welcome you back and wish you all the best for a safe and happy 2021.

Zoё Watson,
