Rothesay High School Students Celebrate Science

Dr. Thomas, Dr. Petra and Dr. Keith Brunt are all professors of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in a state-of-the-art research facility at the Dalhousie Medicine New Brunwick Medical School on UNBSJ Campus.

They kindly shut their research facility for an entire morning in order to invite the RHS Grade 12 Biology class to participate in a series of engaging activities demonstrating techniques in modern cellular and translational biology.
The biomedical program at Dal Med NB is designated a NB "Centre of Excellence" and Saint John City take pride in hosting this site.  As anticipated, the event was a huge success!

The research team also provided insightful advice regarding the undergraduate honor's-thesis program at Dal Med NB (enrolled via UNB) as well as general long-term strategies how to best launch research careers in the discovery/biomedical field.  Our students quickly realized the importance of such considerations at the outset of an undergraduate education.

Our students remain grateful and very appreciative for exemplary altruism exhibited by eight researchers who took time from their valuable schedules to accommodate a visiting high school class for an entire morning.
