Welcome Back! 2024-2025

Dear ASD-S Families,

I hope you had a safe and restful summer. We’re excited to welcome our students back next week and to kick-off the 2024-2025 school year! As we prepare for another exciting year, I’d like to share some information and reminders with you.

School Start-Up

Students will start school next week on a staggered entry, depending on their grade level. Specific information will have come from your child’s school, or you can review the district calendar here.

Coming to School

This year, we will further our expectations of kindness in our schools to help ensure they are safe and welcoming spaces for everyone. We want learners to feel positive about coming to school, because attending regularly helps them do better academically and socially.

Too often missed days are because of anxiety or refusal, and avoiding school only make these things worse. Students learn best and get the resources they need when they are in school. Please support your child in getting to school each day. If you find they are struggling to attend, reach out to their teacher or principal. We can help!

Busing

We encourage you to review your child’s busing information on BusPlanner. Our Transportation Team is working through hundreds of emails this week. If you have an issue that has not been addressed yet, we encourage you to check BusPlanner again on Monday, as the Team makes final adjustments over the weekend. They are also continuing to work through Alternate Address forms as quickly as possible and we appreciate your patience.

Get involved!

ASD-S is thankful for the support you give our schools and values having families welcome and active in our buildings. Schools will be sharing ways to get involved, such as volunteer opportunities, Parent School Support Committees (PSSC), and invitations to events, and we hope you’ll be able to share some time with us throughout the year.

Reach out!

If you have questions about the school year ahead, please reach out to your child’s school, or email us at asdsinfo@nbed.nb.ca. You can also follow the @ASD_South Twitter page and Facebook page where we regularly post information for families.

On behalf of the Anglophone South School District, I want to express our gratitude for your partnership and trust. Thank you for all you do to help keep our schools welcoming, supportive places for our students to learn. For those new to ASD-S this year, we welcome you! We look forward to seeing everyone in person soon.

Sincerely,

Derek O’Brien

Superintendent, ASD-S
