I love talking about the story while we read.
  
Show me the cover. See if I can guess what the story is about.
  
Funny voices hold my attention.
  
Ask me questions about the story and the pictures. Some good questions are:
 *What will happen next?
 *What would you do if…
 *How do you think the character feels?
  
 
Help me “read between the lines”. Ask me “I wonder why”… and “How do you know…” questions.
  
I love to talk about how the book relates to me. Ask “how did you feel when this happened to you?”.

Help me learn new words when we read together.
 
Choose two or three new words to talk about with me.
 
Say the new word louder and slower.
 
Stop and ask me if I know what it means.
 
If I don’t, help me figure out what it means. Maybe we can look it up together.
 
Talk to me about how we could use the word in our lives.
 
Let’s use the word in our lives this week.
