Description and
Responsibilities
A Child and Youth Team (CYT)
offers services to children and youth with emotional, behavioural, mental
health, or substance use concerns. This team operates within the
Integrated Service Delivery (ISD) model. A multidisciplinary team, the Child
& Youth Teams are composed of professionals in various fields, including
psychology, social work, and education.
School counsellors on the Child
& Youth Teams are responsible for the timely and effective provision to
services to children, youth, and families within the ISD framework.
Specific responsibilities include:

Participate in all tiers
of intervention with regards to programs, supports, and interventions.
·
Assist youth, families,
and schools in accessing services and therapeutic resources.
·
Provide assessment and
counselling with children, youth, and families, both as individually and in
groups.
·
Provide indirect
intervention to support children and youth and their environment through
advising, consulting, and collaborating with school-based Education Support
Services Teams (ESSTs) and other service providers.
·
Maintain a caseload and
effectively manage time to ensure each case receives the required level of
service.
·
Participate in the
development and implementation of Common Plans.
·
Provide professional
learning to school and district staff.
·
Respond to critical
incidents, provide crisis support, and participate in Violent Threat Risk
Assessments.
·
Contribute to the
positive working environment of the Child & Youth Team, school-based ESSTs,
and the working relationship between all ISD partners.
·
Adhere to the policies,
procedures, and standards of the Regional Health Authority, the Department of
Education and Early Childhood Education, and Anglophone South School District
·
Travel within Anglophone
South School District is required.
This
position reports to the ISD Processes Coordinator; daily work is supervised by
the Child
& Youth Team Clinical Coordinator.
Qualifications and
Experience
- Minimum New Brunswick Teacher’s
Certificate 5
- New Brunswick School Counsellor
Certificate
- Master
of Education in Counselling or equivalent graduate degree in counselling.
- Successful experience as a
school counsellor, Canadian Certified Counsellor, or Licensed Counselling
Therapist.
- Strong clinical skills in
counselling.
- Commitment to evidence-based
counselling interventions.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preference will be
given to teachers with a B Contract in ASD-S.
A complete resume, cover letter, at least three
