Important Updates

Good afternoon!  This is Mrs. Graham from HRVES with some important updates.  Many of our students have had contact with their teachers online.  However, due to our demographics and family circumstances this is not possible for many students at this time.  Therefore, tomorrow, Monday, November 8 I will be at the school from 1:00 until 6:30 so that parents may pick up work packages for their children.  Please ring the bell at the front door and I will meet you there. These packages have been prepared by your child's classroom teachers.  All work sent home will need to be returned to your child's teacher next Monday or when we return to in person learning, whichever comes first.  If you are not able to come tomorrow to pick up your child's package, please call the school and leave a message on the voicemail and I will make arrangements for you to pick up your child's package at another time.  If you have picture orders or fundraising orders that need to be dropped off at the school, you can do that tomorrow also. On behalf of the staff of HRVES, we want you to know that we miss your children and can't wait to return to in person learning!

Updates

Good Afternoon HRVES Families,

This week the teachers will be sending home packages of work for your children in case we have an operational day.  There should be enough work in each package to cover two days of learning.  Our goal is to be prepared in case something happens and our students would need to lean from home.  Today we are sending home a fundraiser from Dieleman.  There is a catalogue with lots of interesting things you can purchase.  Personally, I love their wrapping paper!  Orders need to be submitted to the school or online by November 5.  Student prizes are also available.  Your child's package will include all of the information you need.  However, if you have questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to the school office at 832-6023.  Have a great day and thank you for supporting our great school!

Good Afternoon HRVES Families!

The September School Newsletter will be going home with the students today.  I want to take this opportunity to highlight some of the contents.  There will be a meeting for Hot Lunch Volunteers on Friday, September 17 at 12:45 in the school cafeteria.  If you would like to volunteer for Hot Lunch you are invited to attend the meeting.  If you are unable to attend the meeting and would still like to volunteer, please call the school, and leave a message for Mrs. Saunders.  Please keep in mind that all volunteers must show proof of their COVID 19 vaccination before they can volunteer in the NB public school system.  Also, we will be having a PSSC (Parent School Support Committee) meeting on Tuesday, September 21 at 6:30 in the school cafeteria.  This committee meets in September, November, January, March, and May for an hour to an hour and a half to discuss various school topics.  This is a good way to connect and have input on what is happening at the school level.  If you are interested, we look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, September 21 at 6:30.   If you are unable to make the meeting and would still like to be part of the PSSC, please contact Mrs. Graham at 832-6023.  Also, if your child is not going to be at school, please contact the Safe Arrival Program.  If we do not hear from you the Safe Arrival system will call you at home and continue to call until someone answers the phone.  As always, this voice mail and the school newsletter will be posted to our web page.  Have a great day!

First Day...first week!

Good Afternoon HRVES Families,

Next week will be our first week of school.  By now you should have heard from your child's teacher either by phone or e-mail regarding which days your child will be attending school next week.  There are some operational plans I would like to share with you before school starts.  Once again this year kindergarten parents will be able to walk their child to their classroom.  They must enter through the bus drop off door, wearing a mask, sanitize their hands when they enter the classroom, and sign in.  This visit to your child's kindergarten classroom needs to be brief.  All other students will say good bye to their parents at the school entrance.  Keep in mind that if you are dropping your child off in the morning you turn right when you enter the parking lot.  Please stop in front of the door where the Educational Assistant will be waiting to greet your child.  We do not want cars to pull ahead into the parking lot to drop children off as drivers may not see them.  Only busses are permitted to turn left once they enter the driveway.  Mrs. Graham will be meeting the busses on the first three days of school.  Parents are permitted to visit the school if they have an appointment.  All doors to the school will be locked. When you arrive you will need to ring the doorbell and the administrative assistant will speak with you through a microphone.  If you are entering the building for an appointment a buzzer will sound and you may then open the door.  All visitors to the school must wear a mask inside the school, sanitize their hands upon entry, and sign in and out.  As of right now, students need to wear a mask at all times when they are riding on the bus, when walking in the hallways inside the school, and when they are in common areas.  Students will once again need two clean masks each day and a clean water bottle.  We will not be holding assemblies.  However, all students will be eating in the cafeteria beginning the first day.  Each class will have their own assigned seating in the cafeteria.  Please bear with us as I am sure the protocols with both evolve and change during the school year.  I will do my best to keep you informed and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call your child's teacher.  This message has been posted to the school web page.
