​Hi everyone,

It’s Lisa Jardine from Leatherbarrow Primary School calling to tell you about a couple of important events coming up in the new year for parents and guardians of children who will be entering kindergarten in September, 2023.

On Tuesday, January 24^th at 6:30 pm, we will be hosting our Kickoff to Kindergarten session for all parents/guardians of next Fall’s kindergarten students. This event gives a brief overview of the important skills required for kindergarten success, and how the results of EYE-DA can be used to inform families, and access supports for children. A Speech Pathologist from Talk with Me will be in attendance to speak to you about the correlation of early language development and school success.

On Thursday, February 2, at 3:00pm, we will be hosting a Welcome to Kindergarten session for our pre-kindergarten students and their parents/guardians. This event will allow both parents and children to be in a kindergarten classroom and interact with the resources and materials used in classrooms to develop language, fine motor and communication skills.

I will send you a reminder of these kindergarten transition events in the new year, but I wanted to let you know the dates now, so that you can mark them on your calendar!
