Hi everyone,

It’s Lisa Jardine calling from Leatherbarrow Primary with a Tuesday talk mail.

As you know, we are currently in the Orange phase, and students must wear masks, all day every day, inside and outside, unless they are eating or involved in some Phys.Ed activities. If you are dropping students off in the morning, it is important to ensure that students have their masks already on when staff open your door to help them out of the vehicle. Thank you for doing this.

Staff also wear their masks all day. As you can imagine, it is incredibly challenging to teach all day wearing a mask, particularly when we are trying to teach students the sounds of another language, or the many letter sounds and word families in English. I want to acknowledge the amount of commitment and effort it continues to take to keep our children feeling safe, motivated and learning every day at school. I thank our staff for their amazing attitude and efforts. I am so proud of both the staff and students for continuing to do their best work, and truly be their best selves during every change and challenge.  Parents, I thank you for raising such kind, happy, healthy and resilient children. I also thank you for your support and encouragement. Together, we are going to get through this!

Due to the Orange Phase, photo retakes and EYE-DA appointments have been postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date.

Please continue to monitor your children for symptoms at home, and please do not send students to school if they are experiencing symptoms.

That’s it for today. Thanks for listening. Please contact us at the school if you have any questions or concerns. Have a wonderful day!
