Volunteer support is highly valued as it adds to student growth and school programming. A volunteer works with with students, staff, and other volunteers. It is essential that volunteers and the people they work with establish mutually satisfying relationships which prove helpful to our students. This relationship is built on trust, co-operation, and a clear understanding of each other's roles.
The following are a few points in defining your role as a volunteer, and in making your experience as a volunteer with us a success:
Confidentiality is of the highest priority. Volunteers may come to know sensitive information regarding a student’s academic ability, relationships with others, behavior, et cetera. We ask that this information remain confidential at all times.
Please remember that any evaluation of school personnel, students, or programs is the responsibility of school administration and the PSSC.
Volunteers may be involved in a variety of activities in our school and need to be aware that they are ultimately responsible to the school principal and will work at all times under the direction of a designated staff member. Remember also that the school adminstration and staff members are always there to respond to any questions or concerns.
Our school has a code of expectations for students and staff. As a volunteer, it is expected that you will be treated by students and staff in a way that reflects our school's code of conduct.
Requirements of SMS Volunteers
