Hello everyone, this is Louise Johnson, principal of Westfield School with the first message being sent out in the 2018-19 School Year using a new messaging broadcast system.  If you are -receiving this in error, please call Westfield School at 757-2020 but we are still entering students in the system and removing those who have transferred.

1. This system is also going to be sending out safe arrival messages in the future.  If your child is not in the classroom at 8:45, you will receive a call at around 9:00 indicating this.  You will be able to let the school know ahead of time if you know your child is going to be sick that day or absent for another reason so that this call does not take place.  You will be receiving a letter telling you about this new feature on the first day of school so please look in your child's bookbag for more information.

2.  Cashless Schools is another new feature at the school and across the District.  Please go onto our Website to register for this service.  Student fees, field trip fees, skating etc can all be paid online.  We would like to minimize the amount of cash that is being handled by teachers and students.  It can be recorded electronically and receipts can be issued.  Money can still be collected but as much as possible, we would like to simply send you a notification telling you that a fee is due and you can then pay conveniently via your device.

3.  The admin assistant who is presently Kim Albert, is back in the office next week too.  If you know your child is going to a different location than home afterschool or is getting picked up at a different location, there needs to be an alternate transportation form filled out as soon as possible.  Do not leave this until the morning of the first day please.  The sooner we can get things into the computer system and in the hands of busdrivers and teachers, the better.  Please note that there must be consistency in bus stop locations. The system only allows certain things to be put into it, and therefore, if your schedule does not fit the parameters, it will not be granted.  Buses are not permitted to be changed using only notes sent to school.  Thanks for your cooperation in this matter.  You can also go on the school district website to check out information regarding bussing.

4.  Next week, on Thursday Night at 6:00, we will be having our Open House and Meet the teacher.

a. We will begin in the gymnasium to have our usual introduction of staff, a few tidbits of Westfield School News, and our PSSC election.  If you would like to be part of the Parent School Support Committee at the School, please give me a call at the school or send me an email.   We would LOVE to have some new faces on our team. This is the team that looks at how policy is implemented and advises the principal on matters of the school.

b.  Following this time, students will head to classrooms to drop off school supplies, hear a bit about the expectations of the teacher, and ask any questions they have before school starts.

c. In the Curiosity Commons, we will have computers set up to register for Cashless Schools, a table to collect alternate transportation forms, and school t-shirts for sale at $12.

You should receive a call from your child's teacher prior to this night but I will also be in the library to help you locate classes and determine teachers if for some reason you did not get the information.
