Hi folks, we will read the announcements after lunch at the beginning of period 4 because the AP exams are being held in the learning commons and we cannot do the editing or filming in there as per usual. Wednesday May 8th Student Council Elections Anyone interested in running for SRC for next year is asked to come to an information meeting on Wednesday in room 236 (Mr. Coombs' room). Grads Grads, the Grad Fees are now over due. We need you to pay your fee so we can pay for YOUR Grad Activities. New Scholarship Applications There are new scholarship and bursary applications arriving at the Guidance Office. Graduates should be checking for regularly. New this week: Saint John Energy Bursary: $1000 to a St Malachy’s student studying Electrical Engineering or Business Administration at university.                                 Bayview Credit Union Scholarship: Valued at $ 1000                                 Acadia Broadcasting Company Scholarship for Music valued at $1000 FACEPAINTERS WANTED! Can you facepaint at the Soap Box Durby? Help make Saint John children smile as you paint their faces! Please see Ms. Sheehan in art studio 173 this week. We need 12 saints to volunteer for a couple of hours on May 25th, Saturday. Thank you! Cultural Fusion We will be having our end of the year party next Monday after school in the Food Lab. All students are welcome to attend even if you haven't been to a meeting in a while. Please bring along a snack that represents your culture (or just tastes good)! Prom Decorating Committee There will be a meeting today at lunch in room 110 for those interested in decorating for prom.  If you missed last week's meeting and would still like to help please feel free to join us. Saint John Theatre Company's Production of 1984 This year's "Classics in the Classroom" offering of the SJTC is the George Orwell dystopian classic 1984. The student preview night on Wednesday, 15 May, will kick off early this year with an extravaganza event at the SJTC space, 112 Princess Street, at 5:30 pm. This event will include a debate on the merits of 1984 compared to The Hunger Games. To get ready for this, we will be screening The Hunger Games in the auditorium Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at lunch. Come to enjoy the movie and prepare for the debate. Students who attend the pre-performance event on Wednesday will be eligible for an even cheaper ticket to the play on Wednesday the 15th at the Imperial Theatre. PLUS there will be FREE PIZZA at 7pm for those who attend the debate. Sign up with Mr. Lenarczyk for any and all of these activities in room 213. (till Wednesday, 15 May 2013) Debate On an unrelated note, the debate team, as well as anyone who has ever thought about joining debate or has read 1984 and The Hunger Games is asked to see Mr. Lenarczyk in the next few days (before Wednesday the 15th) so that you can participate in this once in a lifetime debate! Any lunch hour in Room 213. (till Wednesday, 15 May 2013) Eastern College A representative from Eastern College will be the main hall today during the lunch hour. Students are invited to drop by for information on available programs. Jr "M", "M:, and Winged "M" Applications Applications for students applying for Junior "M", "M", or Winged "M" are now available in the gym office. All applications must be returned by Wednesday May 29th. If you have any questions please see Ms. Shea in the gym office. {Please read from May 8th-May 29th} Key Club There will be a Key Club Meeting today (Wednesday) at the beginning of lunch in Room 114. Student's attending Saturday's event must attend!
