Reporting of Positive Covid Cases

With the return to in-person learning earlier this month we are seeing an increase in positive cases among our students.  If a student tests positive for Covid, families are asked to reach out directly to Mr. Butler by email (michael.butler@nbed.nb.ca).  Case numbers are reported daily to the district/province, so having all information flow through one person helps with this process.

As a reminder, when any member of a household tests positive all fully vaccinated individuals within that house must isolate for five days – unvaccinated individuals must isolate for ten days.

A student with a positive case can return to school following their isolation period as long as they are fever-free (for at least 24 hours) and symptoms are improving.

If you have questions please reach out.

Preparing to return to Level 1 of the Winter Plan

We anticipate a move to Level 1 of the Winter Plan at the end of this week.  Under current rules this will allow us to return to some more traditional activities we have not had in quite a long time – including assemblies, field trips, and increased capacity for spectators at events.  The full plan can be found at the following link:  9-12-winter-plan.pdf (gnb.ca)

East-West Basketball

Next Friday evening, February 25, will be our annual East-West Basketball games vs. Simonds High School.  This is a great way to kick off our return to Level 1 after having to cancel this event last year due to Covid restrictions.  More information will be coming regarding ticket sales, the pre-game events at HV, and transportation details to TD Station for those wishing to take advantage of that option.  Families and friends are welcomed to attend the event – following the operational guidelines of TD Station.

Virtual Open House for Grade 8 students

It is that time of year when Grade 8 students are registering for high school.  Once again this year, high schools in the Saint John Education Centre have produced Open House Videos in place of our traditional events.  We encourage you to watch the HVHS video and spread the word with your friends and family members who may have students in Grade 8.  The video can be linked to directly from the main page of the school website:  hvhs.nbed.nb.ca
