Online Learning Plan for January

Hi Bayview Families and Happy New Year to you all!

As I am sure you are aware, students will begin on-line learning on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. We have all been through this before, so be on the look out for invitations from your child’s teacher to join those meetings. Each student in every grade will also have a home learning package prepared for them. This does not replace the on-line learning opportunities with the teachers, and I strongly encourage you to ensure your child joins the meetings. These packages will be available for pick up on Monday. The times are as follows. Students in grades K-2 is from 8:00 – 8:30 and students in grades 3-5 is from 8:30 -9:00. If you have students in multiple grades, please ask for all their packages at once and we will be certain to get them for you.

As more information comes available to us at the school, we will pass that on to you.

Thank you for your continued support and your patience as we work through this next level of the pandemic.

Messages from Bayview School                                                               November 17, 2021

Good evening Bayview Families,

Kiwanis Cash Calendars are still available at our school. As the holiday season fast approaches, these calendars make fabulous gifts. If you have not had a chance to pick one up yet, you have until the end of the month to grab one. Just send in $20.00 with your child and we will send one home right away. We thank you in advance for supporting Bayview School.

The Coffee orders have arrived late today. We will sort through them tomorrow and Friday and have them out to those who ordered. Thanks to everyone who supported this fundraiser.

Hot lunch is back up and running now. It took a bit of time to get milk back in our building. Online ordering is set up again and remember this closes each week at midnight Sunday evenings. If you happen to miss ordering it online, then you may send in the order and the cash on Monday mornings. Please keep in mind that orders received after Monday may not be processed.

We want to let everyone know that starting Monday, November 22nd we will begin having Pizza Mondays again. This event is sponsored by Irving Oil Refinery. We thank them very much for purchasing pizza for our school each Monday. Please remember that if your child does not like pizza then please send in a lunch for them as this is the only option available on Mondays.

This is a reminder that there is no school this Friday, November 19th for students as it is a Professional Learning Day for all staff. You could always refer to the New Brunswick Education School Calendar with is located on the district website for days when schools are closed to students.

Yours in Education,

Mrs. Baxter

Jumpstart Grant

Bayview Receives Jumpstart Sport Relief Fund Grant

Hello Bayview Families,

In February, Canadian Tire Corporation announced an additional $12 million commitment to Jumpstart’s Sport Relief Fund to help sport and recreation organizations build back sport and play in Canada. Jumpstart conducted a State of Sport study via Ipsos which revealed the pandemic has not only impacted current access to sport and play but has real long-term effects as well. Bayview School and the communities it serves have experienced the impact of the pandemic first-hand.

We recently received confirmation that we will be provided with grant support through the last round of Jumpstart’s Sport Relief Fund. In 2021, Jumpstart has now disbursed funding to more than 1,200 organizations across Canada through Jumpstart’s Sport Relief Fund. We are beyond grateful to receive this news and know the positive impact it will have on sport and recreation organizations, and ultimately, on kids across the country.

With Jumpstart’s support, we’ll be able to replace equipment that has been damaged due to the extra measures we have taken to sanitize equipment in between each physical education class. We are also in the process of being able to provide safe access to the playground and field for those who have mobility concerns while also purchasing a new interactive piece of equipment that would be accessible for all students.

We are so excited about this opportunity and send all our thanks to JumpStart! We are very grateful for their assistance.

In appreciation,

Bayview Staff

Fire Safety and Bus Safety are two topics your child will be discussing in class over the next couple of weeks. Be sure to ask your child what they are learning around these two topics. Next week we will have school buses here to review being safe on a bus. Although your child does not ride a bus to school, there are times when classes will be going on field trips and being safe on the bus is important.

I am looking for parents to become active members of our Parent School Support Committee (PSSC). This is an opportunity for parents, principals, and teachers to work together to make contributions to the quality of education and schools in New Brunswick. You can help impact positive change and take part in improvement planning by getting involved. Please call the school at 658-5332 to join this awesome professional and respectful committee. If you are looking for more information about the PSSC’s please visit the district website or reach out to the school and we will gladly send home some information.

Our next popcorn day will be on October 20th. So, mark your calendars for Wednesday, October 20th for popcorn day.

We have our Coffee Fundraiser underway. Please feel free to reach out to family members and take it to work. This coffee makes for great gifts and the holiday season is not too far off. We are currently selling the Kiwanis Cash calendars as well. They too make awesome gifts. We greatly appreciate your assistance with raising funds for our students at Bayview School.

The East Side Library is hosting an online Science activity for children this Saturday, October 9th at 2:30. There is no cost and all supplies for this activity are provided and you can pick those up at the library. Please call the library for more information and arrange to go pick up your supplies for this activity at 643-7250.

Sept. 24th is our Terry Fox Walk Day. Conversations and discussions about what this is about has been happening in our classes. We are asking students to bring in a toonie or any donation for this event. So, send a toonie in for tomorrow.

September 30th – Orange Shirt Day in recognition of Truth and Reconciliation. Let’s see how much orange you can wear in one day.

Hoodies and T-shirts are on sale here at Bayview School T-shirts are $20.00 and Hoodies are $40.00. We have many sizes available, and it is awesome to see children showing their Bayview Pride.

Please be going over safety rules for walking to and from school. Maybe you could take some time to review how to cross the street using the flashing lights and crosswalk on Loch Lomond Road between our school and the Villa. We have gone over those rules here as well, but safety for all is our number one concern. We thank you in advance for your assistance with this.

It is very important for your child’s book bag to be checked each day. We are noticing many students still have notices and important information still in their communication folders and agendas that has not been dealt with from home. It is imperative for a successful educational experience that home and school communicate. Please take pride in your child’s schooling and model the importance of education.

Our school day begins promptly at 8:20 am. There are several students who arrive after this time. Please ensure your child is at school and ready to learn at 8:20. When students arrive late, they miss vital concepts and interrupt the learning of the rest of their classmates which is in direct violation of Policy 703 which deals with a Positive Learning Environment for all.
