The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (EECD) is pleased to announce the continuation of the citizenship education initiative which supports student visits to the New Brunswick Legislature.  This is a joint initiative between EECD and the New Brunswick Legislature.
Funding will continue to be made available through EECD to offset the cost of bringing classes of students to visit the Legislature. Available funding will be apportioned among the school districts based on student population.  Requests for funding will be processed on a first come, first served basis.
 Instructions for Anglophone schools:
-To book a Legislature visit the school or teacher must contact Diane Mercier-Allain (Legislature Visitor Services Coordinator), at (506) 453 2527 or by email at Diane.Mercier-Allain@gnb.ca
-Diane Mercier-Allain will confirm a tour date with the school or teacher.  Note:  If funds are no longer available the Legislature, and school (or teacher) will be notified by EECD (Janet Bishop).
-Schools will receive funding based on a round trip from the school to the Legislature.  The rate is $0.75 per kilometre for the first 200 km and $0.85 per kilometer for the kilometers beyond 200.  There are no additional charges to tour the Legislature.
Reimbursement:   EECD will reimburse school districts in March 2014 through a budget transfer (for fiscal year April 2013 – March 2014).
Please contact Barb Hillman (506) 444 4847 barbara.hillman@gnb.ca OR Janet Bishop (506) 453 2155 janet.bishop@gnb.ca If you have any further questions.
