The Inside Ride is a National Cancer for Kids fundraiser where volunteers take 19 days and cycle across Canada. There are mini-fundraisers in major cities across Canada as well, (Saint John and Moncton being the two in NB) where volunteers ride stationary bikes to help raise money. All the money raised in NB stays in NB.
When the monies are distributed they help kids like newly diagnosed 2 year old Carter Tesnik who faces 3 ½ years of chemo and kids like Isaac Larson who, three years after his bone marrow transplant still travels to IWK once a month for check-ups and procedures to help keep his GVHD under control.
The Saint John Inside Ride involves a bit of fundraising and a 2 hour commitment, on Oct. 5, where each person on the team rides a stationary bike for 5 min. We are looking to get staff and teens from as many different schools involved as we can.
Take a look at the 2 videos, one shows about the National Inside Ride, the other shows what a city Inside Ride might look like.
