Good afternoon! See below for you weekly messages from RVMS.
As you know by now, there has been a change to our cellphone/electronic policy at RVMS. I would encourage all Raider parents to regularly speak with their child about what they share, post, message, Snapchat, Instagram etc. I cannot express strongly enough my concern about what many of our students are seeing, sending and sharing online and I would suggest that children this age need some adult guidance and monitoring of their phones and devices to help them traverse the online landscape.
Winter is coming! We are regularly outside during bus duty and throughout the day for classes and activities. At bus duty in particular, students need to be dressed to be outside in below 0 temperatures. After November 1st all students are required to be wearing a coat or hoodie when outside at school. I know it is sometimes difficult to convince Middle School students to dress appropriately but you can certainly use Ms. McGrath rule at school to make sure they have proper clothing during the winter monthsJ
The Education Act requires me to notify families when there is concern about student attendance. At 5 days absence, you will receive a call or note from your child’s Homeroom Teacher. At 10 days, you will receive a letter from me. These totals include all absences, excused or unexcused and simply serve as a reminder to families about proper school attendance and total days absent. If you receive a letter, and wish to discuss your child’s attendance, please do not hesitate to contact me at the school.

Nov 12                  Remembrance Day  (No School)
Nov 15                  National Sport Jersey Day
Nov 19                  Report Card #1 goes home
Nov 19                  Gr. 7 Music Presentation (Tim Blackmore) 10:00-11:00
Nov 20 & 21        Gr. 6 Annual Trip to Huntsman Marine Science Center (tentative)
 
And finally, I have attached a message from the Carleton Curling Club regarding their Jr. Curling Program which runs for youth 6-18. They have an Open House scheduled tomorrow and would love to see any interested Jr. Curlers, with or without previous curling experience, in attendance.
