Band Rehearsal Schedule Information
Be sure to check the schedules section of this website to review the rehearsal schedule for your school and band. It’s a good idea to check the band website regularly for new information throughout the year, or for reference to some aspect of the band program.
Instrument Selection
New to the Band Program and can’t decide which instrument is best for you? Contact your Band Director to get some help! The following options are available to Beginner Band students: flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and euphonium.
Instrument Rental
Students and parents are invited to contact their Band Director for advice on instrument rental options. Some stores offer rent-to-own instruments, and this is a good option for students who think they may wish to own their instrument in the future since there is no option for a return of rental fees for District 8 instrument rentals. Depending on the student’s level of commitment, you may choose to purchase an instrument for them from a local music store – your Band Director can assist you in this decision also.
Three Band Levels
Be sure to indicate the band you’re interested in joining on the registration form. Beginner Band is for Grade 5 to Grade 8 students who have never studied a wind instrument before. Intermediate Band is for students who have at least one year of training on their instrument. Senior Band is for secondary school students (or advanced players who satisfy the minimum criteria for Senior Band performance, at the discretion of the Band Director).
