Summer French Camp for Students in Grades 9 and 10

The Summer French Camp is a four-week immersion program administered by the Université de Moncton (Moncton campus). Grades 9 and 10 students enrolled in French Immersion or Core/Post-Intensive French are both eligible to apply. The camp runs in the month of July.

This is a wonderful opportunity for students to enhance their French language abilities, develop greater confidence in using a second language, and extend their understanding of Francophone culture. As the number of reserved seats is limited, interested students are encouraged to register early.

For more information or to receive an application form, students should talk with a French language teacher, a French SPR or a School District French Subject Coordinator. The application form is also posted on the main student portal page. Students may also wish to view the Université de Moncton Summer French Program website, http://www.umoncton.ca/learnfrench/junior for more information.

French Immersion Certificates

French immersion certificates are provided to students who fulfill the percentage requirements for the French immersion program; at the High School level, students would be required to complete 50% of their course load in French, and a 25% French course load at Grades 11 and 12.  There is no specific course required to reach this goal.  Courses offered at the High School will vary from school district to school district and from school to school depending on student interest as well as staffing available to teach these courses.

Grade 12 French Oral Proficiency interview

Students eligible for the interviews must be taking either a grade 12 French language course (either Core French, Post Intensive-French, or French Immersion), or a subject taught in French this semester.  Please note that an individual student can only be evaluated once; students who are evaluated during the first semester are not eligible for another interview in the spring.  Students planning to take a French course during the second semester are not to be included in this round of interviews.
