Happy New School Year! We have had a great week at MAS. We ended our week with a fire drill and a whole school assembly. In our assembly today we broke into our multi-age groups and took off on a scavenger hunt outside solving riddles. There was lots of excitement in finding the final clue!

A few reminders: 

Students Fees- Reminder that student fees are due. The cost this year is $45. This can be paid online or at school.

Forms Sent Home- Please complete any forms that were sent home at the beginning of the week and return them to school as soon as possible.

Hot lunch Orders- Reminder that hot lunch orders are due this Wednesday, September 11. Our hot lunch program is offered Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Fridays. Hot lunch orders are due a month in advance. Mondays we will be ordering from Great Canadian Bagel. They will be offering a variety of bagel sandwiches and a fruit cup or orange slices. On Tuesdays and Thursday we will order from Tots n' Taters.   This menu will vary each month with many healthy meal options. On Fridays we will be ordering from Papa John's cheese or Hawaiian pizza.  The three local companies worked with us to meet the requirements of policy 711.

Parent Welcome Night- On Wednesday, September 11th at 6:00pm we will be having our Parent Welcome Night. This is an opportunity for parents to come visit your child's classroom, meet their teacher, and learn about what your child will be learning throughout the year. On this evening we will hear from our PSSC and Home and School and encourage parents to become involved.  I look forward to seeing you there!

Drop Off- Reminder to review our school newsletter for drop off procedure in the morning. All students that are getting out of cars and going onto the playground alone, must be dropped off to the duty teacher in the morning which is at the far end of the building. Please be patient in the driveway and we do NOT pass cars as students often get out either side. Parents wanting to walk students onto the playground we encourage you to park in the tennis court and bring your child to the playground. Please share the information for drop off and pick up with relatives and guardians picking up your child. If you have any questions or confusions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Monday, Sept. 9- Estey Art program to present about after school art program, Grades 3-5.  Apple Picking info coming home.

Tuesday, Sept. 10- 

Wednesday, Sept. 11- Parent Welcome Night. Hot lunch order forms due back

Thursday, Sept. 12- 

Friday, Sept. 13- Milk Orders due.

Upcoming Dates:

September 17th- Breakfast program begins.

September 19th- Picture Day. 

September 21st- Kindness Day- Becca Schofield Day

September 24th- Home and School and PSSC meeting 6pm

September 26th- Apple Picking- $4 per student

September 27th- Terry Fox Walk. Asking students to make a $2 donation. 

September 30th- Orange Shirt day to honor the children that attended Indian Residential schools.

The students have had a wonderful week and seem to all have settled and we are ready for a great year of learning! If at any time you ever have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. I look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday evening!
