Week at a Glance Sept 24-28

Hello MAS families! This is our second full week of school and many students are all settled in and into routine. It has been a great start to the year and we are very pleased. It also looks like 'Fall' has found us. Please be sure your child is dressed in layers for the cooler weather in the mornings and warm afternoons.

A few reminders:
Students Fees- Reminder that student fees are due. The cost this year is $45. This can be paid online or at school.

Sustainability Meeting- Reminder that on Tuesday, September 25th at 6:30pm the District Education Council will be here to present information around the sustainability study of MAS. We welcome and encourage all parents and community members to attend.

Terry Fox School Walk/Run- As part of our annual Terry Fox Walk /run day we are asking for a $2 donation towards the Terry Fox Foundation. Students will meet on the field with their classes and walk/run on Thursday, September 27th at 1pm for 15 minutes as part of our school participation.

Orange Shirt Day- On Friday, September 28th we will be participating in Orange Shirt Day. Orange shirt day is an opportunity to wear orange shirts as a symbol of the wrongs done by the residential school system to Aboriginal children and communities. As part of our 10 year education plan we made a commitment to inform students of the history of residential schools. We will join hundreds of others across Canada and wear orange to honor the children that attended Indian Residential Schools.

Home and School- On October 4th we will be sending home our first fundraising event of the school year- Santa's Little Helper. Please keep your eye out for more details.
