Recent School Connects Messages

This message was sent Friday, May 29th to all homes:

Good afternoon! This is a reminder of some of the events going on in the next few days.

FMS is the site of the Relay for Life. I wish to extend a special thanks to all who contributed by participating in Hat Days or by leaving a donation at the leaving party last night. These donations will be forwarded to the Relay for life committee. This weekend the Great Strides Walk in support of CF is happening. So there are many good reasons to be out and active and supporting our communities this weekend.

We have 24 Falcons off to the Gathering of the Scots in Perth-Andover. They were all reminded in our Rally this morning that they are to live by the FALCON code this Saturday and should exemplify on and off the pitch all that we expect of them . I often tell them 'act as if I were right beside you'. Looking forward to hearing their behavior was exemplary.

And our Bands will be bringing their year of learning and performing to a close in concert at Carleton North on Monday evening. The concert which starts at 7:00 pm will feature the Florenceville Middle School Bands, the Carleton North High School Senior Band, Choir and Stage Band and a special performance with The Senior Band and Senior Band Alumni of Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture.

There will also be a Track and Field workout afterschool on Monday from 3:00 - 4:15.

Thank you for your continued support of student activities at FMS!

This message was sent to the homes of Grade 8 students:

This message is for families of all Grade 8 FMS students. This is to inform you of two events taking place next week that impacts all Grade 8 students.

Firstly, two classes at FMS were selected as part of the 20% sampling for writing the Middle Level Math Assessment this year.  While these two classes write the provincial test, the remaining Grade 8 students will write a teacher-created Year-End test that parallels what we expect for the type and range of questions on the provincial test.  Students will be writing periods 1 and 2 on both Monday and Tuesday of next week (June 1 and 2) so we are asking all grade 8 students to arrive Monday and Tuesday well-rested and fed.  We will also serve them a little pre-assessment snack.

The second event is the Quebec Trip. While those students are away, the remaining students are expected to attend school as usual. On both Thursday and Friday, students in 80 and 8B will attend all classes, following their regular timetable, and students in 8C and 8Q will form a combined immersion class and will also follow a regular schedule.

Thank you for your ongoing commitment to learning at FMS!
