Bridge Closure

 June 3, 2019

 Dear Families of CNHS students:

As you may know, the Florenceville Bridge on Route 130 will be closing for upgrades and repairs, beginning June 10 at 6 p.m., pending any change in the construction schedule. The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure has informed us the bridge will remain closed for the summer and into the fall until September 13. In the interim, we want to make sure you and your student are informed of any changes to busing or the school day.

Schools will open at the same time in the morning and all students travelling by bus will continue to be picked up for school at their regular time. However, due to the detour, there will be a slightly longer ride to and from school each day.  This means bus students will arrive at school about a half hour later in the morning and they will be about a half hour later getting home in the afternoon.  The schools affected are Florenceville Elementary School, Florenceville Middle School and Carleton North High School.

Eight buses will need to take a detour. These buses will travel the Route 2 TransCanada Highway to the Hartland exit and then onto Route 130 back to Florenceville-Bristol. Buses are not permitted to use the covered bridge in Florenceville due to weight restrictions.

We anticipate there will be minimal impact on our school day in June at CNHS as June 10th is the first day of exam week. Exams will start at 9:15 am and end at 11:15 am daily.  Students who have their own vehicle will need to be here by 8:45 am.  Busses will depart from Carleton North at the same time, 3:12 pm and those travelling to Centreville will arrive approximately 40 minutes later.

We will send along any changes to our schedule in the fall if they are necessary. We appreciate your patience and support as we work together over the next few weeks to complete this school year and prepare for the 2019-2020 school year in the fall.

 Thank you,

 Jason Smith, Principal

Jana Brennan, Vice-Principal
