Important Message Regarding Zone 2 - Orange Level Alert

Hello Husky Families,

As of midnight, on Friday, November 20, 2020, Zone 2 (Saint John and Area) has changed to the Orange Alert Level. This will impact a group of our students living in communities within that zone. These communities include: Big Cove (Queens Co), Cody`s, Coles Island, Caanan Forks, Highfield, Hunters Home, Long Creek,  Picketts Cove, Salmon Creek and South Caanan.

I wanted to reach out to you today to share some important information for students who live in Zone 2, as they will be required to follow Orange Alert Level protocols at all times while on busses and at school. Likewise, any students who travel into Zone 2 will be required to follow Orange Alert Level protocols for a period of 14 days. Please note, only the individual who travels into Zone 2 must follow the Orange Alert Level protocols. Members of the same household, who have not travelled to Zone 2, do not. It is recommended, however, that all household members self-monitor and get tested if they develop symptoms of COVID-19.

Students and staff affected by the Orange Level Alert protocols are:

·       Required to wear a mask on the school bus at all times, even when sitting alone or with a member of the same household.

·       Required to wear a mask at all times at school, except when sitting at a desk alone working silently (K-8), eating (1m distance), or engaged in sports activities during physical education class. This includes when the students and staff are outside.

·       Permitted to take part in physical education activities that are conducive to physical distancing such as yoga, dancing and moderate walking. Shared equipment may not be used. Interscholastic, extra-curricular and intramural sport activities will be limited to practices and/or skills and drills within a single team.

·       Not permitted to use wind instruments or sing while at school or during extra-curricular activities.

I have posted the updated document regarding the Orange Level Alert protocols on the website below. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the office.

We look forward to seeing all our students again on Monday!
