RE: Update on Hubbard Avenue Elementary School Closure

Hello Families of Hubbard Elementary,

As you are aware, we have been dealing with some facility issues at the school over the past two weeks. Your patience throughout this time is much appreciated.

To date, several repairs have been completed including work on the boiler system, which is required to get the heat circulating once again.

There is, however, some repair work that is still needed. Officials from the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure are scheduled to check on the work on Tuesday, February 16, in the morning. Additional cleaning and air quality tests will also need to be done and reviewed.

This means:

  • Students will continue with remote learning on Tuesday, February 16, and Wednesday, February 17. Please remember there is no school on Monday, February 15 due to the Family Day holiday.
  • Unless there are any issues with the air quality test results or the progress of the final tasks at hand, in-person classes will resume on Thursday, February 18.  We will let you know either way on Wednesday afternoon.

Once again, I would like to thank you for your continued patience as we work through this. Please know that we always make these decisions with the safety and comfort of our staff and students at the forefront. We are very appreciative of the efforts of teachers, students, and families during this time of remote learning.

I will connect with you again on Wednesday with an update.

Sincerely,

David McTimoney,

Superintendent, ASD-W
