Week at a Glance Feb. 10-14

Hello MAS Families!  It has been a great week at MAS. On Wednesday we celebrated World Read Aloud Day. Teachers switched classrooms and read their favorite read aloud to a different class. It was a great opportunity to share the love of reading at the school.

Reminders:

Staff Appreciation Week- This coming week I would like to recognize our hard working staff- Admin Assistant, Teachers, Custodian, Educational Assistants, EAL teacher, and Librarian. This week is staff appreciation week, but we appreciate all they do each and every day. Our staff plays a critical role in shaping your child. They are kind, patient, dedicated, hard-working, fun, and love what they do. Being a small staff our team steps up in many ways to be sure your child’s learning experience here at MAS is memorable and fun. If you see a staff member this week, or want to send them a note and let them know what you appreciate about them.

Pink Shirt Day- Thank you to all the families that purchased Pink shirts. The order goes in Monday morning and we will send tshirts home as soon as they arrive.

Sunshine Program-  Every Friday! Students in grades k-5 are invited to be dropped off between 7:20-7:30am (Students will NOT be allowed to attend if arriving after 7:30am). Students will enter front doors and go directly to classroom and put on indoor sneakers, then head down to gymnasium.

Breakfast Program- Breakfast on Tuesday, Feb 11 Bagel and fruit.

Public Consultation on the ‘Green Paper’- The Department of Education and Early Childhood, in partnership with Anglophone West School District, is organizing a consultation session at 7pm on February 10th, 2020 at Fredericton High School (Cafeteria). This consultation session will provide an opportunity for parents and community partners to share their feedback on the ideas presented in the Green Paper, titled “Succeeding at Home:  A green paper on Education in New Brunswick” .  “Succeeding at Home: A green paper on Education in New Brunswick” was released this fall and contains ideas to make our education system, from birth to graduation, the best in the world. The goal is for education to be at the heart of everything New Brunswick does. The ideas outlined in this document are based on the foundations established in the 10-year education plans. They look forward to seeing you on February 10th, 2020, at Fredericton High School in the cafeteria (parking lot off Priestman Street, Cafeteria is located at the top of the ramp accessed through the FHS Gym Entrance). The session will begin at 7 p.m.

Family Literacy Night- Save the date! Wednesday, February 19th at 6:00pm we will be hosting a family literacy night here at MAS. We are looking to have a guest speaker, book giveaways, book taking from our discarded library books, bookmark making for students, and the Nasis Public Library here to sign up for library cards.
