The Perth Andover Middle School Perth Elks-Bears girls' basketball team captured the Hartland Husky Hoop Classic banner on Jan. 19, defeating the host team 35-32 to take the invitational tournament title.
Coach Jon Brain said the winning team used a balanced scoring attack to defeat the Hartland Huskies, fighting their way to the title into the final seconds of the championship game.
The Perth Middle School team also defeated the Florenceville Falcons and Meduxnekeag Consolidated School from Woodstock during round robin play.
