Principal Welcome Letter 2016-2017

September 2016
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I wanted to take this opportunity to welcome you and your son or daughter to Oromocto High School (OHS) for the 2016-2017 school year. It is my hope that you and your entire family will have a positive and productive year here at OHS. During the school year important information will be communicated to home via letters, voicemail, email and we will post items of interest to the Oromocto High School website. This week information sheets will be sent home with students for your review and return to the school. Please take a moment and review them with your child, sign and return to school. The student Data Collection form is very important as it allows us to have the most up-to-date information to contact you in case of emergency.
Communication with the school is encouraged and I would ask that when contacting the school regarding your child that you first contact the teacher and then, if required, the appropriate Vice Principal. You can contact the school at 357-4015(you can also leave a voicemail). By keeping the lines of communication open we can all work together to support your child’s success.
Our annual Parent Open House will occur on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 from 6PM to 8PM.  I encourage all parents and guardians to attend this open house to meet your child’s teachers for this year. After the open house we will have PSSC elections in the OHS Theatre. If you are interested in more information on the OHS PSSC please contact the school at any time.
I encourage all parents/guardians to sign up for our PowerSchool Parent Portal. With your account you can see your child’s up-to-date attendance, their historical grades, and current class grades and even see assignments and grades from teachers. This invaluable resource will enable you to have instant access to your child’s progress at school from the convenience of your home computer or web enabled smart phone. For more information please view the Parent Portal information on the OHS website.
We are fortunate at OHS to have an excellent and experienced staff that work very hard each day to deliver a quality education to all of our students. As a staff we continue to grow professionally and our school vision is to make OHS a Centre of Excellence in Teaching and Learning. I am very excited to have been appointed Principal of Oromocto High School this year and I look forward to working with you and your child over the year ahead.
