After three rounds of CyberTitan, Nashwaaksis Middle School ranks #1 nationally and 47th internationally.
CyberTitan is a CyberSecurity competition offered by the Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC) in affiliation with the (US) Air Force Association’s CyberPatriot Program.
The program consists of training/practice rounds held in late spring and early fall, leading into the competition rounds throughout the school year. During these competition rounds, teams are given a set of virtual images that represent operating systems. Their task is to locate cybersecurity vulnerabilities and harden the system while maintaining critical services within a six hour period.
Nashwaaksis Middle School team members (Matthew Samms, Justice Richard, Jackson McGrath, and Zachary Doucet) have spent the last 8 months preparing for the competition by going through the training modules provided by CyberPatriot, information that they sourced on their own, and guidance from their team mentor Rory Bray who is a Security Architect with IBM's Security Intelligence Development Team.
The next round of competition for Nashwaaksis Middle School’s CyberTitan Team will be the semifinals on Friday, February 9th.
