Drama 2018January 08 This year Mrs. O'Keefe and Ms Losier are in charge of the NMS Drama Club for grade 3-5. If your child has expressed an interest in being a part of the club, please go to the documents section where you will find a permission slip which has details regarding practice times and scheduling.
As putting together a theater piece is time consuming, our practices will take place on Wednesdays after school for one and a half hours. The students will be eating their lunch from 12 – 12:30 pm, and the practice would take place from 12:30 – 2:00. These practices will begin January 17th. More details are included in the permission slip, which will need to be returned no later than January 17th.
If you have any additional questions about the drama club, please feel free to contact us by email or telephone.

Drama Festival April 4thApril 03 Hello Parents/Guardians,
This is a reminder that tomorrow (April 4th) the drama students will be going to Oromocto High School. We will be leaving the school at 8:30am and students will need to be picked up no later than 5:15pm. We are not sure which door is the pick-up door, so if we are not outside, go to the OHS office and they will direct you. Students will need to bring a lunch and snacks with them for the day as there will be no access to hot lunch or the OHS cafeteria. Unfortunately, anyone who ordered hot lunch for tomorrow will not get it.
Please be sure that you have signed the permission slip and send it to the school with your child.

Important Updates and InformationMarch 11 We are 2 weeks away from our performances on Friday March 24th at 7pm and Saturday March 25th at 2pm! Please be sure to check with your child that he/she has learned all of his/her lines AS WELL AS learned the words to his/her songs. We have one more Wednesday practice coming up this week. In addition, we will be having a practice on Saturday March 18th from 9am-12pm. Please have your child arrive at the school a few minutes early so that we can get started at 9am sharp.
While the practice is happening, we will be getting parents and volunteers together to paint, cut, colour, glue, and create set pieces and costume/prop items needed for the play. Anyone interested in helping out and able to stay at the school during the practice, send me a quick response so that we have a general idea of who is available. We will be putting together any supplies necessary throughout this week so that no time is wasted when parents and volunteers are at the school Saturday morning. We are in need of your help and are hopeful that the bulk of the items left to put together will be finished Saturday.
Also, we will be having our dress rehearsal on Wednesday March 22nd at Journey Wesleyan Church from 12:30 - 4pm. We have arranged for a bus to take the students from the school to the church; however, students will need to be picked up no later than 4pm at the church (131 Duncan Lane). Feel free to coordinate with other parents for pick-up of your child. I will be sending permission slips home with students this week, so please sign them and send them in as soon as possible indicating who will be picking your child.
We will begin selling tickets on Wednesday March 15th.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you so much for working with us to make this year's production a success. We couldn't do this without your help.

Drama FestivalFebruary 23 The Drama Club students will be going to Oromocto High School for the Drama festival on Tuesday, April 4th. We will be taking them by bus from Nashwaaksis Memorial to OHS; however, they will need to be picked up at OHS by a parent or guardian. It is looking like we should be finished around 5pm. (I will send an email to confirm once I have a more detailed schedule for the day).
Keep checking the website and your emails for updates.
Drama practice updatesFebruary 13 Hello Parents/Guardians,
As you all know, we've now missed 4 drama practices due to bad weather. With the performances coming up in 5 weeks, it is crunch time. Performance dates have been confirmed with the location for Friday March 24th & Saturday March 25th. Beginning this week, we have decided to extend our Wednesday practices to 3:10pm. Start time will still be 12:30, end time will be 3:10. Please make arrangements to have your child picked up no later than 3:10pm. (If there are scheduling conflicts with appointments, etc., send me an email.) We have decided to do this to not only make up for days lost, but in an effort to avoid having to schedule Saturday practices.
In saying that, please tentatively mark on your calendars a possible drama practice for Saturday March 18th. We will send notices home before March break if we feel this Saturday practice is needed.
Please be sure that your child is working on memorizing his/her lines as well as practicing the songs. We gave them a deadline of February 14th to have lines memorized, which means that over the next 5 weeks we will be practicing without scripts as much as possible.
Thank you so much for all you do. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
