Hello Families of Andover Elementary School, Perth-Andover Elementary School, and Southern Victoria High School,

Officials associated with emergency response within the Town of Perth-Andover and the Province of New Brunswick continue to monitor the state of the Upper St. John River in relation to the ice-jam in place, and the impact it has on flooding and roads in the area. Taking into account traditional agreements that have been made with emergency response officials, and in the interest of safety, school will be closed for students at Andover Elementary School, Perth-Andover Middle School, and Southern Victoria High School on Tuesday, March 30. Wording in the Agreement Between Treasury Board and the New Brunswick Teachers’ Federation does not permit a switch to remote learning in this particular case. We will continue to monitor the situation very carefully and communicate with you if further closure is required.

While we recognize this is not ideal, the safety of all our students and staff remains a priority.

Thank you for understanding.

Sincerely,

David McTimoney, Superintendent, ASD-W
