Students are working on their posters or display boards at home. They have plans that are due Monday, if they have not already conferenced with me about them.  If they have had my feedback, then they are good to proceed. They may bring in photocopies to cut with my paper cutters here and then take home to put on boards.  I encourage them to take photos of their posters to show me, if they want more feedback.

Please find attached my notes about how to develop a successful oral presentation. We did a lesson on this and watched a video this week.  I made up & translated some notes from that lesson and gave each student a copy.

Refer back my entry earlier this week for the lesson notes on the poster/display board along with important dates.

Each student now has the date they will be presenting.  If they did not record it, please ask them to see me to confirm the date.  They start on January 30th and 31st and end on February 13th and 14th. All those wanting to compete for School Heritage Fair must present by February 7th as I will announce the representatives on February 8th.

Students will also need either an artefact or a creation to present along with the poster/display.  I have a lesson planned for that, but I have been talking to them about it since we first started this before Christmas.  There are many examples on the NB Heritage Fair website. Use Google to seek them out. Always best if the students make their own models or create their own pieces, but we understand that parent assistance may be necessary for some aspects of this. Some students will want to do both and they certainly are encouraged to do what inspires them. Any model should be no bigger than a desktop and a power point does count as a creation, but be sure it is different from the poster or display board. Poetry, journal entries, etc. also count as creations.
