GSMS Celebrates Pink Shirt Day - February 27th

Pink shirt day 2019.png

George Street Middle School's Beyond the Hurt group is proud to support Pink Shirt Day, an annual, world-wide movement raising awareness about bullying issues, promoting kindness and inspiring youths to "Be Someone's Hero" by speaking up against bullying. One of the many ways our school is celebrating this event is by hosting a sale of the official Pink Shirt Day t-shirts distributed by the Red Cross. It is our hope that, on February 27th, the school will become a sea of pink in support of this special day. T-shirts are 10$ and are being sold during the grade level lunch and options until Feb. 26th. Thank you in advance for your support!

Great Holiday Gift Ideas from George Street Middle School

Rafikis.jpgOur Global George humanitarian club would like you to know that  during  P-T interviews (Thursday evening and Friday morning), that they will be selling Rafiki chains.  What are Rafikis? They are a beautiful necklaces or bracelets beaded by the Masai Mama’s in Kenya.  Two of our grade 8 teachers actually went to Kenya and beaded with the mamas 3 years ago. The Mamas are paid fair wages and with this income, many of their daughters are attending school now.  The other portion of the Rafiki sales go to support a pillar of sustainability in a WE village (water, income, food, health and education). There are 5 colours/types of Rafikis, each representing the 5 pillars (they are beautiful!). They are 12$ each and will be sold by the front doors of the school and another table in the grade 6 wing. They make wonderful Christmas gifts. At the back of the Rafiki is a track your impact code in which you can see exactly what community your Rafiki is supporting.  We only have 250 for sale and they sell out every year. Get yours now before they are gone. If you want to purchase this for a stocking stuffer for your son/daughter, this can be arranged by e-mailing: lise.martin-keilty@nbed.nb.ca
