Any available member of the Environmental Club are asked to meet with Mrs Roe today during their lunch/options.  


New Peer Leader training that was scheduled for this morning has been postponed.  Ms Robinson will announce the new training date soon.



We plan to go outside. Meet in the cafeteria as the gym is closed.


Track and Field: 

Great job by GSMS. Out of 32 teams we came 1st for combined girls and boys. 

Please return your uniform and submit your fee.


Team plays in districts tomorrow and Saturday. 


Celebration of Athletics: 

We will have our athletics awards on Friday, June 14 during period 1. Please show your school spirit and wear GSMS gear and/or school colours.

Daily Announcements - April 9

UPBEAT:  Rehearsal today after school from 3 - 4 in Miss Ready's classroom. See you then!


Attention members of the Yearbook committee: We have now completed our after school meetings for the year. A big thank you to all members for your help in preparing this year's yearbook. We will meet again in June to distribute yearbooks.


Set Design Crew : Any members who are available to stay with Mme S-A today to help finish cleaning up the paints, and equipment please see her at Nutrition Break.  It would be from 3-4pm only and just a few members needed.


A new club is starting for Grade 6 Students this week: 

Creative Comic Book Club. This club will meet this week on Day 3 at Grade 6 Options in A32. The regular meeting day will be Day 5. Come along and share your original comic book creations with like-minded individuals. See you tomorrow in A32.


Attention wellness ambassadors:

There will NOT be a wellness meeting after school today!



JV boys play at GSMS at 4:30pm and Varsity boys at 6pm.​

GSMS Celebrates Pink Shirt Day - February 27th

George Street Middle School's Beyond the Hurt group is proud to support Pink Shirt Day, an annual, world-wide movement raising awareness about bullying issues, promoting kindness and inspiring youths to "Be Someone's Hero" by speaking up against bullying. One of the many ways our school is celebrating this event is by hosting a sale of the official Pink Shirt Day t-shirts distributed by the Red Cross. It is our hope that, on February 27th, the school will become a sea of pink in support of this special day. T-shirts are 10$ and are being sold during the grade level lunch and options until Feb. 26th. Thank you in advance for your support!​

Have  a Safe Holiday Break!

Last day of school befiore the Christmas Break is Friday December 21st . It is a full day of school! Our Annual Christmas assembly is Friday the 21st from 9:15 to 12 noon. All are welcome.

Congratualtions go to Krista M and Derrick L- the two winners of the raffle- the GSMS Home and School Assoc. raised just over $6000! This money will go to help improve our library- big changes coming soon. Thank you so much to every family that donated items and/or bought tickets​. Congrats to the top sellers who will enjoy a special treat next week.

Great Holiday Gift Ideas from George Street Middle School

Rafikis.jpg​Our Global George humanitarian club would like you to know that  during  P-T interviews (Thursday evening and Friday morning), that they will be selling Rafiki chains.  What are Rafikis? They are a beautiful necklaces or bracelets beaded by the Masai Mama’s in Kenya.  Two of our grade 8 teachers actually went to Kenya and beaded with the mamas 3 years ago. The Mamas are paid fair wages and with this income, many of their daughters are attending school now.  The other portion of the Rafiki sales go to support a pillar of sustainability in a WE village (water, income, food, health and education). There are 5 colours/types of Rafikis, each representing the 5 pillars (they are beautiful!). They are 12$ each and will be sold by the front doors of the school and another table in the grade 6 wing. They make wonderful Christmas gifts. At the back of the Rafiki is a track your impact code in which you can see exactly what community your Rafiki is supporting.  We only have 250 for sale and they sell out every year.
