Memo for Garden Creek Parents and Guardians

Good afternoon, Creeker Families:

As we move into the week of Remembrance Day, I would like to take a moment to give gratitude to the men and woman who fought for our countries so that we may have peace. I would like to also honour those in the military as well as  first responders who continue to come to the aid of  others. We  Remember.

Year 2000 Creeker Time Capsule Unearthed! – This past Friday, some of our grade 5 students were on the search for 20 year old  treasure – A time capsule that was buried on the front lawn of the school. We took the warm weather to find it per the cryptic directions on the back of a plaque left by Steve Pierce, a former principal of our school. 5 minutes before the end of the day, it was found but the bell had rung and it was time to go – some of our staff continued the dig. The contents were in a large storage bin about 5 feet below ground and,  unfortunately, completely waterlogged!!  Mr. Briden and Mrs. Ghanem jumped in the trench and pulled out bags of relics – mugs, pictures, toys .. you name it. Unfortunately, the best we can do, is to take pictures of the items . We look forward to sharing the photos and video with our students and perhaps some former staff or students on a full school TEAMS share in the near future. We also look forward to  no doubt making our own time capsule as this would be the year to do so ( we will just ensure we take water resistant precautions!)

Outdoor Learning Support needed – Irving is donated benches and stumps for our outdoor learning space. If  you are able to transport these from Chipman to Fredericton on a Saturday of your choice, that would be wonderful! Please  email Amanda Williams at mander669@gmail.com

Purple Pinkies for Polio – We are still accepting donations for this if you would like to send in a toonie with your child. They will get their pinkies marked in purple  😊

Christmas Wreaths and Poinsettia Orders – These are due on Cashless Schools by next Monday the 16th.

Wellness and Positive Health -  A reminder of the wealth of resources for staff, students, and families under the section of, "Wellness and Positive Health" GNB EECD website.https://www2.gnb.ca/content/gnb/en/departments/education/learning_at_home.html?fbclid=IwAR2hSI2MCyWm00gCAFHZXleju2Xpd8UtAiML-w1uReK5HhkW3nbLejM3ngw
