Important Information from Devon Middle School for September 2020

Hello Everyone,

I want to thank all of our students, parents and community members for a great school year!  It is certainly a year that we will all remember.

For students returning in September 2020 our start up may look a bit different from other years. Because of the accommodations that must be made in schools, we have been given permission to have a staggered entry.  This will allow each grade level time to learn how to transition into their new learning environment.

 Our tentative schedule will be:

On Tuesday, September 8th, our Grade 6 students will come to school for their first day of school.

On Wednesday, September 9th, our Grade 7 students will come to school for their first day of school.

On Thursday, September 10th, our Grade 8 students will come to school for their first day of school.

The first day for all students will be Friday, September 11th.

I would invite you to keep checking our school website https://secure1.nbed.nb.ca/sites/ASD-W/DevonMiddle/Pages/default.aspxtwitter account @devon _middle and Instagram page DevonMiddleWildcats as we will be updating plans in August. For your convenience, all of the school supply lists are located on our school website. We look forward to having our students with us in the fall.

Have a safe and enjoyable summer.

A Message to Grade 5 Students from Devon Middle School

Greetings Parents, Guardians, and future Devon Middle School Wildcats,

Mrs. Oxford (P), Mrs. Allen VanderToorn (VP) and the Staff are excited to welcome you to Middle School. Congratulations! We regret that we were not able to invite you into our school for our traditional Grade 5 Student Orientation and Grade 5 Parent Night. To replace our face-to-face experience, staff are working hard at compiling a virtual tour hosted by our student council president, Nolan McGinn. In the meantime, please view an informational power point about Devon Middle School and a few things you and your child can expect when school starts up in the fall. Attached are school supply lists for our two programs - French Immersion and English.

To help our future grade 6 students with transitioning in the fall, we plan to have a full day with just grade 6 students to allow them to meet their teachers and learn about life in Middle School.

To view our Grade 5 informational power point, click on the link to our school website. https://secure1.nbed.nb.ca/sites/ASD-W/DevonMiddle/Pages/default.aspx

Under the section latest news - Information for students entering grade 6, there are three links you can select. We will add our Virtual Tour video here as well once it has been finalized.

I'm sure we will hear soon what school will look like for us in September. You will receive future communications as things are shared and prepared for roll out. We are looking forward to meeting our new students in the fall.

Week of June 15-22

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The staff have been back a week now and are busy cleaning, writing report cards and preparing for the fall.  Here are a few informational items for you.  A reminder that the building is still closed to the public but feel free to give us a call if there is anything you need to contact us about.

 1. Should you still have personal belongings at school, please touch base with your classroom teacher to arrange a pick up time.

 2. School clothing order – you have two options with this.  Should you wish to have your order returned, please call the school to arrange a pick up time.  For all other orders, we will hold onto them for next years order and adjust sizes if need be.

 3. All report cards will be mailed out on Monday, June 22nd.  Younger siblings report cards will be included with the oldest child’s envelope.

 Grade Five Celebration:

We will host a walk up ceremony that will work very similar to the “pickup belongings” event we held in May.  Classes will be given a time, they will enter through the front door, while maintaining a physical distance of 2m, tables will be set up with your certificates and a picture station as well.  Students will exit via the gym doors.  Families will need to maintain the 2m distance between each family throughout the entire process.  This will give our grade five students a chance to have some closure to their elementary years.

Monday, June 15th 10:30 – 11:30             Grade 5 Harvey and Bernier-Duchaussoy

Tuesday, June 16th 10:30 – 11:30             Grade 5 Gallen

Thursday, June 18th 10:30 – 11:30           Grade 5 Ryan and Sponagle
