A new adventure is arriving soon!

School supplies are on the shelves, lists are in hand and mixed emotions are slowly (or quickly) sneaking up on everyone. Custodians have been diligently working to ensure our building is clean and ready for our favourite young ones when they arrive on Tuesday, September 4th (Kindergarten students have a staggered entry and parents will be notified the week of August 27th by the teachers). Many teachers have also been into their newly cleaned classrooms and have been readying their teaching spaces for their new classes. Whether it is your child's first year or their sixth year at GNMES, it is a BRAND NEW year for everyone. It is an exciting, and occasionally anxious, time for children so together we will make this a wonderful learning experience for them. There are a few important items to make note of:

Melanie and Lori, our terrific admin assistants, will be back in the office starting the week of August 20th. If you have questions (other than whose class your child is in), you may call or drop-in between 8am and 3pm, Monday-Friday. Class rosters are constantly changing due to students registering or moving. Information will be available at the end of the following week, and is still subject to change after that.

Teachers return to work on Monday, August 27th and are involved in a variety of learning and planning events each day. They are off-site on Tuesday, August 28th, for a professional learning day.

Parents of children entering kindergarten are invited to meet with the K teachers the evening of Thursday, August 30th from 6-7pm (date correction from August 29th). This meeting is just for the grown-ups - the kiddos get their big moment the next week!

A reminder that if you have not yet signed up for Cashless Schools this is a good time to do it. School fees ($45) will be payable through Cashless School for the first time this year.

Tuesday, September 11th, is our yearly Meet-the-Teacher/Family Corn Boil event. Corn-on-the-cob, rolls and water are provided free-of-charge to all who attend. This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a meal with your friends and family and for your children to introduce you to their teachers. Stay tuned for more details!

We are looking forward to an amazing year as we work together building a community of learners!
