Information Regarding the Regional Public Consultations on the Green Paper with the Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development
The Department of Education and Early Childhood, in partnership with Anglophone West School District, is organizing a consultation session at 7pm on February 10th, 2020 at Fredericton High School (Cafeteria).
This consultation session will provide an opportunity for parents and community partners to share their feedback on the ideas presented in the Green Paper, titled “Succeeding at Home: A green paper on Education in New Brunswick” . In addition, Minister Dominic Cardy will meet with groups of students and teachers throughout the day, to gather their respective feedback. “Succeeding at Home: A green paper on Education in New Brunswick” was released this fall and contains ideas to make our education system, from birth to graduation, the best in the world. The goal is for education to be at the heart of everything New Brunswick does. The ideas outlined in this document are based on the foundations established in the 10-year education plans. We look forward to seeing you on February 10th, 2020, at Fredericton High School in the cafeteria (parking lot off Priestman Street, Cafeteria is located at the top of the ramp accessed through the FHS Gym Entrance). The session will begin at 7 p.m.
Grade 1 Entry French Immersion 2020-2021 School Year
Attached in the documents section you will find information regarding Grade 1 French Immersion and the registration process for all Kindergarten students whose families would like to register them in Grade 1 French Immersion for the 2020-2021 school year. Online registration opens on Monday, February 3. Hard copy forms of the information will also be sent home with our current Kindergarten students.
Natural Playground Stakeholder Meeting Monday, January 27 6:00 pm
Would you like to learn more about and be part of creating a lasting legacy at Forest Hill School? If so, we invite you to attend our Natural Playground and Learning Space Stakeholder meeting for interested parents / guardians and other community members. We would like to share our vision with you and are seeking input on our design and process. The meeting will take place on Monday, January 27, 2020 at 6:00 pm in our gym.
UNB Hockey Game - Elementary School Night Out
Hello Forest Hill School Families! It’s that time of year again when the UNB
Reds Hockey Team partners with ASDW southside schools for Elementary School Spirit
Hockey Night. On Friday, January 24, the UNB Men’s Hockey Team will be
playing the Dalhousie University Tigers at 7:00 PM at the Aitken Center. Students can attend the game for free and
parent tickets are half price (only $6.00).
All students must attend the game with a parent / adult. Tickets for both students and parents must be
picked up by parents at the AUC box office if you wish to attend. The Aitken Center Box Office is open Monday to
Friday, 10:30 am – 4:30 pm. Each school will have an assigned section in the rink so
when parents purchase / pick up their tickets at the Aitken Center (by 4:30 pm
on Friday, January 24) please let them know that you are with Forest Hill
School. This is a great opportunity for us to show our school spirit,
for students to see each other outside of school, and to enjoy some great

School Mascot Art Design Winners!
Congratulations to 4 of our Kindergarten and grade 1 students on being the 4 students who had the top votes on their fox mascot art work. The components of all of their pieces of art will be combined to create one digital image of our fox by students from Oromocto High School.

New School Mascot!
We are creating a new
school mascot for our school! Last week, the students brainstormed ideas with
their classes on potential mascots for our school. We had lots of different
ideas from snowmen and gummies, to dogs, rainbows and dragonflies! We loved the
creativity and excitement that the students showed. The top 2 finalists were
narrowed down to Foxes and Falcons. Voting on the mascot will take place this
week. Each student will get a ballot for voting. We also invite you to vote as

School Holiday Concerts
Our school holiday concert is scheduled for Wednesday, December 4, 2019 with shows at 9:00 am and 11:00 am. Storm date will be Thursday, December 5 (same show times). For simplicity sake, and to allow as many individuals to enjoy our concert as possible with adequate seating; we suggest that if your surname begins with the letters A-M that you attend the 9:00 am show and that those whose surname begins with the letters N-Z attend the 11:00 am show. We understand; however, that a particular time may work best for you and encourage you to attend the show that is most convenient. Thank you!
First Home & School and PSSC Meetings of the School Year
We welcome any new parents who are interested in serving on our Home & School Committee or Parent School Support Committee (PSSC) to our first meetings of the 2019-2020 school year. Our Home & School Meeting will take place at 5:30 pm on Monday, September 30 and our PSSC Meeting will take place at 6:30 pm on Monday, September 30, 2019.
Please be reminded that for the saftey of your children and our staff, the staff parking lot is not to be used at any time for student drop off and pick up. Thank you for your continued cooperation.
First Day of School Procedures
First Day of School Procedures:
Tuesday, September 3, 2019, 8:15 am teachers will meet all grade 1 students on the playground, help them find their classroom teacher and get settled in their classrooms. Please ensure your classroom teacher knows the afterschool arrangements for your child. It is a regular full day of class for grade 1 with dismissal at 1:50 pm.
Tuesday, September 3, 2019, 9:00 am Kindergarten teachers will meet Kindergarten students on the playground, help their find their classroom teacher and get settled in their classrooms. Please ensure that you are at the Kindergarten doors to pick up your child at 11:00 am on this day. (This is a staggered entry day for Kindergarten, only half of the K student will come on this day. This same process is repeated for the other half of K students on Wednesday, September 4). The first full day of school for all Kindergarten students is Thursday, September 5, 2019. Please ensure your classroom teacher knows the afterschool arrangements for your child.
2019-2020 School Year
Please find in our documents section, the school supply list for students entering Kindergarten and grade 1 for the 2019-2020 school year. The first day of school for grade 1 students is Tuesday, September 3, 2019. Kindergarten students will have a staggered entry and notices to families will be sent home over the summer. If you are new to our area and have not registered yet, all newcomers to Canada can register at the Newcomer Center located at George Street Middle School. If you are not a newcomer but need to register your child for Forest Hill School, you may do so directly at the school beginning on Tuesday, August 20 between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm. Our annual meet the teacher night will be held on Thursday, August 29 at 5:30 pm. More school details will be shared at this time. School fees can be paid with School Cash Online as early as August 1, 2019. For those families who have not registered for the School Cash Online System yet, can also do so at this time. It is our preferred method of payment and a very easy system for families to use. Have a wonderful summer and we look forward to seeing all of you in the fall!
