Bliss Carman Maker Faire

Dear School Maker Community,

Bliss Carman Middle School is hosting the very first School Maker Faire in Fredericton, N.B. on
May 9th, 2017. As you may already know, Maker Faire is an event created by Make Media that has
grown in international interest, celebrating innovation, creativity and resourcefulness (for more
information please visit this link http://makerfaire.com/makerfairehistory/).

This event is a student-lead entrepreneurship initiative that is raising money for the Canadian
Cancer Society. In addition to planning the event, the grade seven organizing class will be offering
workshops (including Learn to Solder, The Art of 3D Design & Robotic Coding) as well as selling
original products that they have made. Our goal is to educate the local community about Maker
Education and the innovative practices of students, thereby facilitating further growth in this
movement.
What better time to showcase student talent than during the New Brunswick Innovation Week
(May 8-12). With support from Brilliant Labs, we are using this event to celebrate innovation in
student entrepreneurship.
