Kindergarten Welcome -2022-2023

Dear ASD-S Families,

A warm welcome to our Kindergarten families, especially those new to Anglophone South School District. We hope you had the opportunity to join us for our school orientation events in the spring, and for those who could not, we look forward to meeting you in person next week.

Kindergarten students will join us through a staggered entry, with half starting on September 6, the other half starting September 7, and everyone together on Thursday, September 8. This allows our young learners a soft start to their year as they familiarize themselves with their classroom, classmates, and teacher. Schools will be in touch to communicate which day your child will be starting.

Kindergarten provides an enriching environment for children to learn, play, and grow. Entering Kindergarten is both an exciting and often stressful milestone. We encourage you to reach out to your child’s school with any questions or concerns you may have. You can also find information on the ASD-S website, including any recent communications sent to ASD-S families.

Be sure your contact information is up to date with your child’s school so you never miss a communication from us or the school. You can also follow the @ASD_South Twitter page and Facebook page where we regularly post information for families.

For information about busing, such as stops and schedules, we encourage you to sign up for BusPlanner and be sure to opt-in to notifications about delays and cancellations. Instructions for signing up can be found here. For those travelling on the bus for the first time, information about bus safety can be found here.

As the school year gets underway, we encourage you to find ways to be active in your school community. There are often a variety of volunteer opportunities to suit different interests and availability. You may also consider joining your school’s Parent School Support Committee (PSSC). It is a great way to participate in your child’s school, network, and find personal growth and professional development opportunities. Reach out to your child’s principal for more information on these opportunities.

We are so pleased to welcome you and your child to the Anglophone South School District. We hope you have a wonderful start to the school year and many more to come.
