Return to School - September 2020

Good afternoon ASD-S Families,

Today Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Dominic Cardy released the plan for our return to schools in September 2020. Linked below is a document prepared by the province which outlines the current plan for grades K-12.   We know there will be many questions and further information will be available as we work through operationalizing this plan with our schools.  The District will work with Principals, our Facilities Department, Public Health and the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development to implement this plan, ensuring our students experience a successful and safe return to school.

Today is the last day for the Home Learning plan and I know for families, students and teachers this has been an unusual, if not challenging thirteen weeks.  Next week teachers will be participating in professional learning on teaching on-line, as our high school students will be continuing with some on-line learning next year, and so that our K-8 teachers will be prepared if the situation changes.   Schools will also be connecting with families about report cards, graduation activities, yearbooks, and more.

I would like to thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we have worked through this school closure and ask that you continue your support as we navigate the new school year. We recognize there will be many questions and details to share over the next couple of months. Please ensure your school has your correct contact information and watch for updates on the ASD-S website.
