Message to ASD-S Families - Measles Situation

Message to ASD-S Families

There has been much information in the news the last several weeks regarding the confrrmed cases of measles in Kennebecasis Valley High School and Hampton High School. KVHS, HHS, and the District have been working closely with Public Health to ensure families and students are kept informed. We thank those families for their patience, as there has been a large volume of information directed to many of them recently.

If information needs to be provided to other ASD-S families, this will come from your child’s school via email or the voice messaging system. For this reason, please ensure you have provided your up-to-date contact information with the school.

All schools in ASD-S are open and classes are proceeding as usual. Two Grade 8 Quebec trips from schools in the Kennebecasis Valley were cancelled due to their scheduled day of departure and the uncertainty of the scope of the outbreak at the time the decision had to be finalized; however, there has been no other cancellation of activities or events by the District or under the recommendation of Public Health as a result of the measles virus.

The situation is changing daily and we, along with Public Health, are working hard to respond as it evolves. Our priority, as always, is the safety and well-being of our students and staff. Public Health has asked that anyone who believes they may be exhibiting symptoms contact their health care provider or call 811 prior to presenting to a clinic, physician’s office or emergency room so that necessary measures can be put into place to prevent the spread to others.
