Care Kits for Cancer at Chris Saunders Memorial

Mrs. Allen’s grade five class participated in an ‘Entrepreneurial Adventure’ through the Learning Partnership. The purpose of this project was to create a business and a product with all proceeds going to a chosen charity. The class chose the Canadian Cancer Society as their charity and created 20 “Care Kits for Kids”. These kits are designed for children receiving cancer treatment (they are filled with items to entertain them or make life a little more comfortable) when travelling to and from the hospital. In addition, the students in the class sought out individual sponsorship with the funds going the Canadian Cancer Society.  The goal was to raise $400. In the end, the 20 students in the class raised over $2200! $400 was donated to the Canadian Cancer Society and the remainder went towards our school’s Light the Night fundraising campaign to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. We are very proud of Mrs. Allen and her students! What an exceptional effort!
