Child and Youth Integrated Service Delivery
Team:
The C&Y
ISD team provides integrated assessment and intervention services to children,
youth, and families with identified multiple needs as defined by the five core
areas of development (health and wellness, emotional and behavioral
functioning, family relationships, educational development, and mental
health). This service is based on an
Integrated Service Delivery framework that includes the collaboration of the
Departments of Health, Education & Early Childhood Development, Social
Development, and Justice & Public Safety.
C&Y teams are comprised of Addiction and Mental Health clinicians
(social workers, clinical psychologists, and nurses), school psychologists,
school social workers, community support workers, and Education Support
Teachers (Guidance and Resource).
EST-RESOURCE or Guidance Counsellor
This
position is responsible for the timely and effective provision of services to
children, youth, and families as defined by the Integrated Service Delivery
Framework. The resource teacher or guidance counsellor will
provide intervention and assessment services to enhance the social-emotional
and behavioral developments of children and youth as a member of an
interdisciplinary, interdepartmental team. The resource teacher or guidance counsellor will be an integral
part of collaborative problem-solving teams and contribute to the educational
community within an inclusive and RTI service delivery model.
Reports to:
A
designate of the Director of Education Support Services
Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensures that
the child, youth, and family are involved in decision-making, planning, and
follow up which may include working in the community or home;
·
Participates
as a member of one or more school-based
Education Support Services Teams and as a member of the Child and Youth
Team;
·
Participates
in all tiers of the pyramid of interventions with regards to programs and
supports;
·
Provides
crisis response support;
·
Participates
in regular team meetings to discuss requests for additional supports
(individual, school, family), address team issues, and build a positive team
environment
·
Maintains a
caseload
·
Maintains
positive interpersonal relationships with clients, families, colleagues,
partners, and the public
·
Participates
in the development of Common Plans
·
Adheres to
appropriate policies and procedures of the Regional Health Authority (RHA)
·
Complies
with RHA standards of practice including documentation standards
·
Other related duties assigned by the designate of the
Director of Education Support Services
Qualifications:
·
Five years
teaching experience
·
Experience
as a resource teacher at the school level
·
A master’s
degree in exceptional learners or
counselling psychology or equivalent graduate degree
·
Preference
will be given to teachers who hold a B contract with the district.
An equivalent combination
of training and experience may be considered. Written and spoken competence in
English is essential. Successful B teachers will be given a leave of absence
from their school of record.
A complete resume, at least three references,
university transcripts, and a copy of the NB Teacher’s Certificate must
