INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR THE FOLLOWING POSITION OF RESPONSIBILITY    
 
Alternate Education Coordinator
Effective January 25, 2020
 
          Pay Band 7 -   $78,728.00 – $95,238.00 annually
Areas of Responsibility
·      Oversee alternate education programs throughout ASD-S, including Compass Saint John, Compass Sussex, Portage Atlantic, and First Steps
·      Providing on-site leadership and supervision to students and staff at Compass Saint John, including budget, staffing, teacher supervision, scheduling, professional learning, screening and intake assessments, and consulting with high school principals.
·      Maintaining relationships with community and ISD partners, including the Saint John Learning Exchange, Child & Youth Teams, Social Development, and Public Safety
·      Implement alternate education initiatives as outlined in the District Improvement Plan.
·      Other duties as assigned
 
Organizational Relationships
·      This position reports to the Director of Education Support Services
 
Requirements
·      Minimum NB Teacher’s Certificate V
·      Master’s degree in Education, Exceptional Learners, Counselling, or a related field
·      A minimum of five years relevant teaching experience
·      Experience in facilitating professional development for teachers
·      Strong commitment to Positive Behaviour Intervention and Supports, restorative practices, social and emotional learning, trauma-informed practices, and strength-based approaches to education
·      Strong working knowledge of the Response to Intervention model
·      Strong working knowledge of Education Support Services
·      Demonstrated problem solving skills
·      Ability to work with minimum supervision and direction
 
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Written and spoken competence in English is essential.
