March 8th 2021
We hope all enjoyed their March Break.
Hot Lunch Ordering will open this Wednesday, March 10th and will close Saturday March 20th at midnight. If you wish your child to have milk and hot lunch for the month of April, orders must be done before the 20th. Late orders cannot be processed.

We all would like to thank all the parents for their support with the Staff Appreciation. We at Lakefield were very spoiled indeed!!!
Through your support with our February Fundraising, we were able to raise $4160.00 for UNICEF for the Coronavirus Children's Crisis Appeal. Our donation will help UNICEF deliver life-saving medicine, nutritious food, and vaccines. This is part of our goal as we try to become a designated UNESCO school. Thank you for your unbelievable support!!
Attached to this email is our School’s March Newsletter. Please take the time to read through.
From Mr. Shea: Guidance
The LES Lions have been practicing how to use their WITS during the winter of 2021!  Our kids understand that THEY are in charge of their reactions, when someone bothers them or they get upset, and that there are many ways to get help when we feel overwhelmed. A big thanks goes out to Cst. Ryan Walker of the KV police force for being our WITS community representative.
Check out our Pink Shirt Day video where all the lions stand together, representing how we stand up for each other when there are conflicts or bullying situations:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFq_0MsacfY

Looking forward, we will be reviewing the Zones of Regulation and the strategies students can use to calm down and "get back to green", when they are upset.  Here's a video from the creator of "zones" about how families can make their own "check in" system to facilitate communication when we're at home ... these days, a little more often than usual!   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l07xlKoNYEE

Leah Kuypers (author of Zones of Regulation) and her family created a short video to help kids at home put together their own Zones of Regulation Check-In for families. Handouts mentioned in the video available via Zones of Regulation www.zonesofregulation.com or through Social Thinking's website along with other home lessons and activities ...
